‘Beating Kotoko in Kumasi normal for Edubiase’ – Anthony Kommeh

New Edubiase United coach, Anthony Kommeh has hailed his side’s away win over Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors’ position on the league table before kickoff was nothing to write home about but their win will see them change places with either Inter Allies or Dwarfs pending other results.

Edubiase picked their first away win of the season, as well as handing Kotoko their first defeat under the tutelage of interim coach Michael Osei.

A first half goal by Prince Antwi was enough to send the Red Devils back to the drawing board, as they prepare to face Hearts of Oak in their next league fixture.

“I’m happy about the victory because we were not placed well on the league table so to get these points here, I am very much happy,” Kommeh said after the match.

In explaining the disparity in the football exhibited by his charges and the team’s placement on the league table, Kommeh said:

“If I say they [players] don’t play well, I will be lying to myself. They play very well just that there are certain chances we don’t burry them.”

With Edubiase dominating Kotoko in Kumasi in recent times, Anthony Kommeh said it’s normal in association football.

“Each and every team has a boogie side that disturbs them, it is there. Whenever we meet Kotoko here, it is in their minds that things could happen. There is time for everything. We’ve played with Kotoko and we have been able to pick our three points.”

“That is, the plan we came in with, play the ball in defence and play them on the counter break. But it’s true Kotoko did more attacking on us. They created chances they could have scored but I think our defensive network was Okay to prevent them.”

In their next league fixture, Edubiase will host Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Park.
