AshGold coach Hayford unmoved by sack agitations

Ashanti Gold head coach, Bashiru Hayford is unperturbed by the ultimatum given by the supporters of the club to resign from his post latest by Friday.

The former Kotoko coach guided the Obuasi-based club to their first league trophy in about 20 years last season. But the champions have been a pale shadow of themselves this campaign, failing to pick a win from their last five league matches. They have recorded two defeats and three draws.

This, in effect has compelled the supporters’ front to release a statement asking the head coach and others holding prominent positions to step down with immediate effect.

“…I don’t care. Even if they say I should stop coaching today, I have a home to turn to and a work I will be doing. By hook or crook, I and my children will have our daily bread.

“So those who are saying that, if they are the same people who offered me the job and think I have to leave because I have done enough, fine no problem. But what they are saying won’t even burst my car tyre because I know the reasons for winning the league and the least said the better,” Hayford told Nhyira FM.

The Miners currently lie 12th on the league table with seven points. They have won only one from their seven league matches played so far in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.
