MTN FA CUP: Hearts stroll past Wassaman into Round of 32

After a smooth start to the Premier League, the in-form Phobians extended their winning into the FA Cup with a 3-0 thrashing of Wassaman United in the round of 64 Sunday.

Hearts of Oak, playing as hosts, made six changes to their squad that crawled back from two goals down to defeat Inter Allies 2-3 last week.

Assistant coach Yaw Preko and Corporate Affairs Manager Joe Addo took control and managed the side for the encounter at the Accra Stadium as head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi remained in the peripheries after taking ill during the week .

In the opening half hour, Wassaman proved strong and thwarted Hearts’ efforts to open the scoring and made a number of incursions at goal.

However, Kenneth Okoro, who was handed his first start of the season, gave Hearts the lead on the 37th minute with a header that beat Michael Adjei in post.

Two minutes after, Kwame Kizito out-jumped Wassaman’s defence to connect home with another header after a neat build-up – 2-0 the first half ended.

Cosmos Dauda and Isaac Mensah made way for Ashitey Ollenu and Musah Ibrahim respectively in the second half.

Hearts controlled the game by entertaining the fans with beautiful football and surging runs.

Just when everyone thought the game was ending two zero, Kenneth Okoro once again received a pass from substitute Musah Ibrahim and slotted in perfectly to complete a 3-0 walloping.
