Kotoko 0-0 AshGold: My strikers failed – Coach Bash

AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford has blamed his strikers’ failure to convert begging chances in their barren draw with Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.

The Miners were recently knocked out of the CAF Champions League and now have the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup to fight for.

In a post match interview, the former Kotoko coach pointed out they could have won the game, if not for their missed chances.

“I will emphatically say my strikers failed. We had done more difficult work on scoring goals in training than what transpired.

“We created chances to win the game but it wasn’t an easy game. We dominated the first half… but I will say it [the result] is a true reflection of the game,” coach Bash mentioned.

He further said the club is going through transition by blending old and new guys together, which could take some time before they gel.

“We are blending players at AshantiGold and I expect that to take time so I didn’t expect us to start the season with a bang.”

Bashiru pulled one of his classic responses when asked if there is pressure to defend their title.

“If your wife needs a new cloth and you don’t have money to buy if for her, there will be pressure on.”

AshantiGold is currently 7th on the league log with five points and will play Sekondi Hasaacas on match day four.
