GPL: Korankye mindful of WAFA threat

Sekondi Hasaacas defender, Amos Korankye says he and his team-mates are treading cautiously ahead of their tricky tie with West African Football Academy.

Hasaacas play as guests to WAFA in a match day 3 fixture of the Ghana Premier League at the Sogakope Park today. Hasaacas heads into the game with high hopes having thrashed newly promoted team Techiman City 4-2 on match day 2 at the Essipong Stadium.

WAFA returns to their favourite grounds after a 0-1 defeat to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park last weekend and they will be hoping to replicate the performance they exhibited against Kotoko on the opening day of the 2015/2016 season, which fetched them a 2-0 victory.

Last season, a brace from Martin Antwi and one each from Zakaria Mumuni and Richmond Lamptey handed WAFA a 4-1 win over Hasaacas, with Samuel Afful grabbing the consolation goal and a ubsequent red card.

But Korankye tells Footy-GHANA.com that they have worked harder to improve themselves ahead of the clash. He indicated that his side is determined to take home at least a point.

‘’It’s not only those who go school that learn. We have also learnt a lesson from last season’s game that we played with them. We are very careful ahead of the game. However, we have had adequate preparations,’’

‘’We are very determined to return to Sekondi with the points. It’s possible because that is what we have planned to do.’’

Hasaascas currently lies 10th on the league table, whilst WAFA is on 7th position.
