Francis Akwafo issues ‘Bekoe apology’ to Kotoko fans

Former player of Asante Kotoko, Francis Akwafo has issued an apology on behalf of friend and former teammate Eric Bekoe for his tantrums directed at the Kumasi based club.

Bekoe, an ex-Kotoko star, led the front lines for Hasaacas who succumbed to a 0-1 defeat to the porcupine warriors at the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday.

Prior to the game, Eric Bekoe had vowed to score a goal but failed to glitter in the match day 5 league encounter with the Porcupine Warriors. He later blamed the defeat on bias officiating for his former side, adding the team will lose when they meet their fiercest rival Accra Hearts of Oak.

His pre-match comments and demeanour on the day didn’t go down well with the fans of Kotoko, with some venting their anger on the forward via various social media platforms.

Bekoe’s former Kotoko mate Akwafo has taken to his Facebook page and issued an apology to the fans of Kotoko;

“On behalf of my self and bro Eric Bekoe.. We ask for forgiveness. When you listen to the interview, the story is different from the way some people [are] writing. But all the same, my bro[ther] was wrong to use Hearts of Oak [to chide Kotoko] and I can say I played Kotoko 11 good years and Bekoe is one of the players who loved Kotoko not because of work but [as a] true fan of the team. Pls I got messages, calls and Facebook messages, whatshap messages about [the] recent incident. We [are] asking for forgiveness. Please in God’s/Allah’s name.. I know the team will bounce back stronger than before. But [I’m] asking my brother to keep working hard and focus on the league…..FABULOUS the greatest ❤️”

Kotoko has five points from a possible fifteen and will be facing Aduana Stars at the Dormaa Park on match day 6.
