Former Ghana national team coach Kwesi Appiah has advised current boss Avram Grant to stay put and adopt the use of a scouting software to monitor foreign based players.
The former Chelsea boss has had the penchant for staying out of the country at the least opportunity mostly with the excuse of monitoring players for the Black Stars.
Grant’s posture indicates his preference for first hand experience of seeing Europe-based Ghanaian players in action for their respective clubs – an act which has received massive condemnation from most football followers in the country.
Speaking to Starr Sports, the Israeli’s predecessor advised:
“After watching him [a player] on the scouting software, you put his name down so anytime you make up your mind to go to Europe; you can go and monitor them physically. That can actually help him [Avram] to monitor those here and those in Europe as well,” Appiah stated.
Kwesi Appiah, who now handles Sudanese side Khartoum SC, is credited with spotting talents such as Christian Atsu, Jerry Akaminko, Rashid Sumaila, Jeffery Schlupp, Afriyie Acquah, Majeed Waris, Solomon Asante and others while he mostly stayed in Ghana during his tenure.
But Grant with all his monitoring in Europe has only introduced three new players so far into the squad in the person of Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah, German-based right-back Phil Ofosu Ayeh and Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey.
Avram Grant has submitted his squad for the upcoming Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique to the Ghana FA Executive Committee who are expected to release it latest Tuesday via their Communication unit.
