VIDEO: Nii Adjei nets twice in Mazembe Super Cup glory

Ghana midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei emerged the hero as TP Mazembe secured the 2016 CAF Super Cup title on Saturday.

The midfielder scored a first half brace for his DR Congo side in a 2-1 victory over Etoile du Sahel. This is the third Super Cup triumph for Mazembe who were playing as Champions of the 2015 CAF Champions League with Etoile, the winners of the Confederations Cup.

The former Asante Kotoko player produced a fine header to beat Aymen Mathlouthi in post for Etoile after left-back Kasusula sent in a fine cross for the opener. The goal came just in 20 minutes of play.

In the 45th minute, Adjei was on hand again to double the lead for the five-time African Champions as he produced a brilliant half volley after feeding on an excellent ball from Jonathan Bolingi.

The reigning CAF Champions League winners were put under pressure by the Red Devils as they pulled one back before the halftime break through Mohamed Msekni.

Etoile came back strongly in the second half but brilliant saves by Ivorian goalkeeper, Sylvain Gbohou kept the score unchanged, handing the Ravens, Super Cup glory.

27-year-old Nii Adjei was the only Ghanaian handed a starting place by Coach Hubert Velud with the rest; Solomon Asante, Gladson Awako, Kissi Boateng and Yaw Frimpong out of the side.
