West African Football Academy (WAFA) gaffer, John Killa, has hailed his team’s emphatic win over Asante Kotoko as a deserved one.
WAFA defeated the Porcupines Warriors by two goals to nil on Saturday on match-day 1 of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.
A 40th and 47th minute strike from Charles Boateng and Local Black Stars winger Samuel Tetteh were enough to sink the former league champions at the Sogakope Stadium.
Coming into this game, WAFA had lost only one game from their 15 games played at home last season – drawn four (4) and won ten (10) and had vowed to add the porcupine warriors to their list of casualties. Apparently, Kotoko have now lost twice to the side at Sogakope Stadium.
Speaking to SuperSport TV, John Killa said it was a hard fought win.
“We deserved to win. I think we had some two [more] chances in the first half to score the second goal but [that didn’t happen]. In the second half, I was very happy with the early goal,” he said.
“Kotoko played a good game in the second half. There were still some chances to score the third goal but then, I am very happy with the style of play and team work,” Killa explained.
When asked about soaring expectations since they have defeated people’s favourite for the league, he said,
“We actually had to think about this game [now that is over], a little bit of celebrations, and starting from tomorrow [Sunday] morning, we think about Chelsea in Berekum.”
WAFA will play guests to Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture at the Berekum Golden City Park on February 28.
