GN Bank DOL: Ghana FA to support home clubs with security

The Division One League Board has revealed that the security committee of the Ghana Football Association will be ready to assist home clubs to provide security across the various league centres.

The division one last season was faced with a lot of security issues with the owner of the headline sponsor GN Bank, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum alleged to have been manhandled in a game  between his club Elmina Sharks and Ebusua Dwarfs at Elmina resulting to a threat of sponsorship withdrawal.

In a bid to resolve such issues, the FA Security Committee has shouldered the responsibility of assisting home clubs in ensuring security at all match centres.

This was confirmed to Footy-Ghana by the Chairman of the Division One League Board, Owoahene Acheampong.

“It’s the home clubs or home teams who are ultimately responsible for providing security. The FA Security [Committee] was at our congress and took stakeholders through a lot security issues. The conclusion was that if any club has difficulties raising securities for their matches, they are to contact the security committee under the chairmanship of Nick Owusu to make sure security is arranged. If you fail to do that and there are issues bothering on that are referred to the disciplinary committee, it is the home team which will suffer.”

Meanwhile, footy-Ghana understands that the start of the 2015/16 GN Bank Division One League has been moved to February 27
