Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC have called off their proposed pre-season friendly scheduled for Kumasi on January 31.
Footy-Ghana sources indicate that it was the porcupine warriors who moved to have the game abandoned after they received a copy of the yet-to-be sanctioned fixtures for the new season.
According to sources, the two clubs are scheduled to clash on match day 3 at the Baba Yara Stadium should the Ghana FA Executive Committee ratify the fixtures at their February 3 meeting.
Both clubs appreciate the closeness between the time of the friendly and the competitive league fixture and so have decided to cancel the game.
Asante Kotoko will instead, on Sunday host Bechem United who last week, beat league champions AshantiGold while Medeama are also looking out for a new opponent.
The new Ghana Premier League season has been officially set to start on February 20.
