Ainooson in Hilal squad for Tunisia pre-season camp; Ashia out

Loaned out Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson was part of Al Hilal’s squad that left Sudan for their pre-season camp in Tunisia on Friday.

The centre-back who recently joined the Omdurman-based club in a one-year deal from the porcupine warriors made the 26-man squad with compatriot

However another compatriot, Kennedy Ashia, who also signed for Hilal in a two-year free agent deal failed to turn up ahead of the team’s trip to the North African country.

Ashia who is still back home in Accra explains to footy-Ghana.com the reasons behind his conspicuous exclusion from the travelling party.

“I sought permission from the club to allow me sort out a few things back home. There is no issue and the club is aware of my delay,” Ashia said on Saturday.

“You know when I went to have my medicals and signing, it took me some time to finish up the deal before coming back to Ghana. So there are certain things I needed to sort out back home which I am currently doing. I should be leaving for Sudan by Tuesday and from there, I will be given a visa to join the team in Tunisia,” he further explained.

Hilal lost out on the Sudani Premier League title to rivals Al Merreikh on controversial basis and are keen on staging a stiffer challenge and excelling in Africa come the 2016 season.
