TRASH: Togbe Afede denies $100,000 Ghana Veep support to Hearts

Hearts Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, has slammed as complete bull, media reports that Vice President of the Republic of Ghana is giving the club a whopping $100,000.

Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, a shareholder of Hearts has this week, been reported to be pondering over offering the huge financial support to the club to boost its player transfer activities ahead off the 2015/16 season.

The Phobians’ seeming lack of transfer activity so far this off season has raised fears of inadequate funds at the club with the supposed move by the Veep expected to boost Hearts’ chances of big name signings.

But the club’s Board Chairman has strongly refuted such a move and has blamed the reports on people trying to capitalize on the “disunity in Accra Hearts of Oak.”

“There are a lot of people out there who want our downfall, a lot of things you read in the media are thrash,” Togbe Afede remarked at the club’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

“Let me make things clear the Vice President didn’t give us $100,000; also he isn’t the second majority shareholder.”

“Of course he is still a sympathiser of Accra Hearts of Oak, a shareholder and we count him as a fan. Why would somebody just fake a story that he gave us $100,000? Why? Nothing close to the truth!

“So please let us know as a people that there are too many people out there who want our downfall and who want to capitalize on the disunity in Accra Hearts of Oak,” he noted.

The former African club champions, in recent months, have been troubled by agitations within the rank and file over the direction of the club. And Togbe Afede is admonishing all fans and stakeholders to unite to ”change the [current] climate surrounding Hearts of Oak”
