Revealed: Bastia, Rennes invite Fameyeh for trials

Young striking sensation Joel Fameyeh has received two trials invitations as well as another loan offer from European clubs, Footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

Fameyeh, 17, features for Kumasi-based second tier side Asokwa Deportivo and has risen to the limelight after banging in an impressive 28 goals (plus 13 assists) in 24 games in the recently ended 2014/15 Ghana National Division One League.

The Senior High school graduate became a subject of interest of many local top-flight sides with his stock further rising when he scored on his debut for the Black Stars in their failed attempt to qualify for the 2016 CHAN against Ivory Coast in October.

Fameyeh has been widely tipped for an imminent move to big boys Asante Kotoko while there are also hints of a possible loan to Academy-based top-flight side WAFA SC where he could continue his development but Asokwa Deportivo bankroller and CEO Amidu Camarat insists there is no decision yet.

“At the moment, we have not sold Fameyeh to any club. Yes, there are some clubs who have negotiated with us at length but that’s where it remains. We have not released him to any club,” he says.

Camarat however reveals that two French Ligue One clubs – SC Bastia and Stade Rennes have extended trial invitations to Fameyeh with BK Hacken from the top-flight in Sweden offering to take up the youngster on an initial half-season deal from January.

“About three European clubs have expressed interests. There is Bastia, Stade Rennes both from France who have sent in their invitations for trials. There is also one Belgian club who want the boy on an initial six-month loan deal,” he stated.
