FIFA SUPPORT: Ghana gets $300,000 for 2018 WC preps

The Ghana FA has been boosted by a $300,000 support from world football governing body, Fifa for its “preparation of and participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.”

The Fifa Executive Committee approved the bonus amount at its December 19, 2014 meeting in Marrakech (Morocco) based on the final analysis of the financial results for the 2011-2014 cycle and a proposal made by the Fifa Finance Committee.

This Fifa bonus is an additional financial support to the 2015 Financial Assistance Programme (FAP 2015) but exclusive to only member associations who met the January 14, 2015 registration deadline to participate in the Russia 2018 qualification process.

For 2015, the Fifa Executive Committee approved that “each member association will be entitled to receive a total of US$1,050,000 –

“US$250,000 for the 2015 Financial Assistance Programme (FAP);

“US$500,000 as a one-off financial bonus (in connection with the 2014 FIFA World Cup); and

“US$300,000 as support for the preparation of and participation in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers,” the circular signed by General Secretary Jerome Valcke stated.

The above “sum is in addition to the first tranche of USD 250,000 of the bonus that was made available after the 2014 FIFA Congress,” it added.

The Ghana FA is expected to have received its share of the Fifa bonus ($300,000) for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and all its entitlement for 2015 as the world governing body’s final installment payment deadline was set for September 30, 2015.

This year, Fifa devised to pay its members in four (4) installments with dates as follows:

~ 1st instalment – January 2015

~ 2nd instalment – 25.03.2015

~ 3rd instalment – 24.06.2015

~ 4th instalment – 30.09.2015

Ghana will open her 2018 World Cup qualification process with a double header against the Comoros Islands on November 13 and 17. The Black Stars play away first.
