Medeama set sight on FA Cup title

Medeama captain, Hans Kwofie, has made an ‘honest’ opinion on their FCCPL title chances.

The attacking midfielder believes overtaking consistent leaders AshantiGold will be very difficult for the Tarkwa-based club. They are 8 points adrift the Miners who cruise on 37 points with eleven games to spare.

Kwofie however sees the chances of the Mauve and Yellows bright in the Ghana FA Cup where they will be facing WAFA at the quarterfinals stage on Wednesday.

“Our target is to reach the FA Cup final and win it,” he said to supersport.com.

“To be honest, we know it is going to be difficult to win the league. We could place second or third but the FA Cup gives an automatic slot to Africa [Caf Confederation Cup],” Kwofie added.

Medeama who won the MTN FA Cup two seasons ago would hope to eliminate Academy side WAFA SC at the T&A Park and set up a date with Hearts of Oak [who beat Afienya City 1-0 at this stage] in the semi-finals on July 12 in Accra.

In the other two remaining quarterfinals games, rivals Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold will lock horns in Kumasi while Aduana Stars battle out with lower tier side Eleven Wise in Dormaa. The winners from the two clashes meet up in the semis at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on July 12.

The 2015 MTN FA Cup grand finale has been slated for August 30, 2015.
